Back in 1983, 24-year-old Patricia Clark was pregnant with her second child. Since big babies ran in her family, she had a feeling her son was going to be larger than normal. However, nothing prepared the expectant mom for his whopping size. Weighing in at over 16 pounds, Kevin Robert Clark was not only the biggest baby ever born at Community Memorial Hospital but perhaps the largest baby born in New Jersey at the time. Imagine having a 16-pound baby!?
Though he couldn't fit into a standard crib and his baby clothes were too small, Patricia and her husband were so relieved to learn Kevin was born healthy. Meanwhile, his size made headlines across the country, from a Saturday Night Live spoof to a segment on Good Morning America.
According to the New York Post, Kevin stood at 5-foot-7 by the age of 12, and by junior high, he was 6-foot-5. And he just kept growing and growing.
Despite the physical and social challenges that come with being incredibly big and tall, he says he handles them with humor. "There isn’t a day that goes by when someone doesn’t ask me how tall I am," he told the Post. "I like to joke that I’m 5-foot-21. When people ask if I play basketball, I ask them if they play miniature golf."
Today, Kevin is in this late thirties. He's a former military man who lives with his wife and their Great Dane — a fitting dog for him and his 6-foot-tall spouse.
